Soil and Groundwater Contaminated Site Risk Assessment and Risk Management Promotion Project for 2022

Absrtact
To continuously promote the track record of risk management cases and enhance the effectiveness of contaminated site management in Taiwan, this project focuses on grouping sites suitable for prioritized adoption of risk management. Through the formation of guidance teams, briefing meetings and on-site counseling meetings are conducted, ultimately resulting in 3 sites agreeing to or having already adopted risk management measures. In addition, with the hope of systematically conveying the concept of risk assessment and effectively improving risk communication expertise in the future, this project has developed a comprehensive outline for risk assessment, risk management, and risk communication training courses. 9 half-day training sessions have been organized to demonstrate the training capabilities, serving as a reference for future training courses planning. The project has analyzed several ongoing risk assessment cases, proposing improvements and feasible suggestions for parts of the current review process that are excessively lengthy and cumbersome. Regarding the localization of risk assessment parameters, data collection, analysis, and updated suggestions have been completed. Both sets of recommendations have been submitted to the Risk Assessment Subcommittee for review. To provide consistency in the execution of risk assessment review operations by supervisory authorities, this project has further developed detailed and comprehensive review operation methods and checklists based on past preliminary results. Finally, in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Environment and user feedback, this project has completed operations such as system interface optimization, data rationality checks, and cross-system data integration.
